Hydraulic Assist Steering

Increased performance of steering system with hydraulic assist.

We installed a PSC Motorsports Steering Assist Kit on a 1 ton diesel with an eight-inch lift and 37-inch mud terrain tires. Due to the weight of the truck and the large tries the factory steering was not able to turn the wheels unless the truck was rolling and in off road terrain the steering was difficult to control. The PSC Motorsports steering assist kit has a hydraulic ram and an upgraded steering box with the necessary hardware to mount.

The new steering box came with ports for the hydraulic lines to operate the cylinder and bolted right in to the factory location. The ram brackets must be welded on to the axle and tie rod. Everything else bolts into the factory location.

The improvements were incredible. The wheel was easily able to turn the wheel from lock to lock without the truck moving. While driving on the road the steering was significantly more rigid and stable. When off road the steering was much more controlled and powerful. Large bumps and objects hitting the tires did not jerk the wheel around.

The upgrade to a hydraulic assist may be overkill in some situations but for those that have large tires or are looking to improve steering control, this is an excellent upgrade.
