EVO X Gauge Pod
Custom gauge pod designed for the EVO X.
There are not many options on the market to add aftermarket gauges to an EVO X. One of the big issues is the airbags in the a-pillar which prevents most manufacturers from placing a pod there. Many people are also interested in not modifying the safety features of their vehicle. I took a concept to my 3D designer, and we came up with a unique solution that turned out exceptionally well. We built a 3D model of the trim piece under the stereo and then designed an overlay with 3 pods for gauges. AEM X-Series gauges were used because of the ultra slim profile. Once the mockup was completed, we attached it to the factory trim piece and completed the finish work. The production model is currently under refinement and will be a single piece mold that replicates the factory trim piece and will be a direct replacement.
Adding this piece requires the removal or relocation of your factory hazard switch. The electronic module will also need to remain plugged in and tucked into your dash to prevent an airbag warning light from coming on. The hazard switch is a momentary interrupt of the ground signal which is simple to splice into and place elsewhere. The airbag system is slightly more complex but can be fixed using the ETACS software. More specific instructions will be included in the final release version.
